15th December, 2024: Hambantota Bangla Tigers rode on an all-round show to clinch a stunning win against Kandy Bolts by 47 runs in Lanka T10 Super League which is taking place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The high-scoring fixture unveiled some brilliant performances that entertained the crowd thoroughly.
Batting first, Bangla Tigers lost Kusal Perera early but Afghanistan batter Mohammad Shahzad and skipper Dasun Shanaka took the responsibility and hammered the opposition all around the park. Shahzad struck a brisk 18-ball 52 that was decorated with three maximums and seven fours.
Shanaka too made a valiant effort as he remained unbeaten at 39 off 15 and helped the side post a big total of 163/6 in 10 overs. Apart from the captain, Dhananjaya Lakshan (18 off 7), Isuru Udana (11 off 5) and Sabbir Rahman (13* off 3) played an important role with the bat.
The Hambantota team continued their dominance with the ball as well and picked up wickets at regular intervals to restrict Kandy at 116/9. Tharindu Ratnayake scalped a four-fer and eventually returned with figures of 4/10 in 2 overs while Shanaka picked up a couple of wickets. Lakshan, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Udana were also among wickets as they bagged one each for the side.
